Advocate- Health & BME projects
-
Jan 2014 - Oct 2015
I have a variety of roles in this independent Advocacy organisation. One is advocating for people who have a learning disability and are from Black and Minority Ethnic communities in the Borough of Greenwich. The other is advocating for people who live in placements often outwith the Borough or outwith London, in Assessment and Treatment Units, hospitals and residential care, many detained under the Mental Health Act. Additionally, I plan and deliver a project training adults who have a learning disability to deliver Equality & Diversity training and training to employers in how to best support employees who have a learning disability. I am also currently working on a Level 3 Certificate in Independent Advocacy. Show less

Project Worker (Self-directed Support Development)
-
Jan 2012 - Jan 2014
Discoveries was a Scottish Government funded project delivered by a consortium of five voluntary organisations; ARK Housing Association, Edinburgh Development Group, Thistle Foundation, Kindred Scotland and The Action Group. The consortium worked with 'hard to reach' groups to build models of best practice and discover how people can best utilise Self-directed Support legislation. As Project Worker I had a coordinating role across the five organisations who form Discoveries. This involved monitoring and evaluation, reporting, planning and delivery on a series of pilot projects that explore how organisations can best support people to lead good lives. Show less

Advocacy and Information Worker- young people
-
Aug 2010 - Sep 2012
In this role I had a case load of one to one Advocacy work with young people aged 14-24 on any issue relating to their additional support needs. At Kindred I also managed and delivered the 'Young People's Society'; a group providing meaningful social opportunities for isolated young people who have additional support needs.
