I am on a mission to get people to eat more vegetables. I co-founded Chaia, an unconventional plant-powered taco restaurant based in Washington, DC in 2013 as a way to inspire long-term shifts in how people eat for the benefit of not only their health, but also the health of the environment. By letting our product and team take center stage, we have organically grown our business from a farmers’ market stand in 2013 to multiple brick-and-mortar locations. I believe that entrepreneurs have a responsibility to come up with transformative, consistently new ideas that solve real problems and leave the world a better place. I have applied this mantra to both my leadership at Chaia and as a member of the DC community, regularly working closely with undergraduate and graduate business students from Georgetown University, George Washington University, and American University. My first job was working summers in the storefront kitchen of Ina Garten’s The Barefoot Contessa. Show less

The Signature Program provides an opportunity for Greater Washington’s most accomplished leaders to make a collective social impact. Each year, approximately 60 leaders are competitively selected to represent the professional and individual diversity of the Greater Washington region as the LGW Signature Class. Participants hail from a variety of professional sectors including nonprofit, corporate, government, and small- and large-business entrepreneurship. When leaders join LGW’s 10-month Signature Program, they connect with change makers from a diversity of social, cultural, and professional backgrounds. Together, they forge meaningful relationships, exchange trusted counsel, and cultivate progress from common ground. It’s the beginning of life-long connections with each other, and with LGW where, whether these leaders are tackling affordable housing, public safety, or transportation issues, they can always find great minds uniting for a greater purpose.
