My time as a class teacher was incredibly varied, challenging, and rewarding. My main role involved planning the curriculum, creating resources, delivering lessons, and reviewing lessons. I gained excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Workspace and used internal systems to track assessment and progress data for my pupils. I was responsible for the safeguarding and social and emotional wellbeing of my pupils. I worked with a variety of external agencies and organisations to secure support, provision, events, trips, and training opportunities for children and their families. I have a proven record of excellent organisation, multi-tasking, public speaking, and communication. • During my first year, I dealt with the additional pressures of the pandemic. Overnight, I taught myself how to use Google Workspace in order to teach my class online. In Spring 2021, I was the only teacher to attend school every day to support the vulnerable and key worker children during lockdown, whilst also teaching online. • In Sept 2021, I took on the role as DT Lead. In this role I have collaborated with other Trust schools on ensuring an effective DT curriculum across the Trust. I have also rewritten the school DT curriculum document to reflect changes in the Ofsted framework. • In Sept 2021, I took on the role as Mental Health Lead. In this role I helped to rewrite the school relationships policy and gained training in supporting young people and staff with their mental health and wellbeing. I successfully promoted mental health by planning and delivering school-wide events. • In Summer 2022, I mentored and supported an Oxford Brookes PGCE student on their final teaching placement. On a daily basis I aided the class teacher in lessons, often team-teaching and leading some of the activities. I also took small groups for pre-teaching or reviewing past learning. Furthermore, I supported my class pastorally, often taking individuals or groups out during lessons to discuss social and emotional issues. I worked closely with children with SEMH/SEN; meeting two children with separation anxiety every morning and supporting a child with autism one-to-one every lunchtime. Additionally, my role included leading reading, writing, and maths interventions every afternoon for children with a range of attainment. My secondary role as a Casual Cover TA involved covering lessons due to illness or during teacher PPA in a range of subjects. Show less
