Bethany brings compassion, understanding, and kindness to her work. She is the most skilled networker I have met; I continue to learn from her. Bethany cares deeply about a donor’s personal story and interest. As Fraser’s major gift officer, Bethany has expanded the network of donors to Fraser, including bringing in new connections for the organization. Beyond major gift expertise, Bethany enhances the entire team by bringing her vast knowledge in writing, special events, and annual fund work. I highly recommend Bethany for any development position.

I'm offering a hearty recommendation for Bethany as a speaker. Recently, I participated in the Association of Lutheran Development Executives' Northstar Chapter's Spring Workshop -- where Bethany presented on cold calling. Doesn't sound like the most enjoyable topic, does it? Yet, with Bethany leading the charge, the subject matter was interesting and rich. She brought a sparkling, joyful, engaging vibe to the room immediately, spurring frequent laughter and easy involvement from all those listening. Everyone seemed to perk up, as she began, and they seemed to remain engaged throughout. She provided a hand-out on which those of us listening could follow her presentation -- filling in key words that she had left with a blank. I found this to be an enjoyable way to track her presentation and feel like I was catching everything I needed to catch. More than anything, I appreciated the practicality of her approach. She offered multiple real-world examples, from her own years in major gifts work, and she brought her recommendations down to earth for us. We had to start the presentation, before she really dug in, by calling ourselves and leaving a voice mail, modeling a typical cold call we might have to make. At the end, we had the assignment from her to leave another message for ourselves before our cars left the parking lot, using what we had learned from her that day. I really appreciate the chance to reflect on my own current skills, build them, and generally steep myself in a "here's what works" kind of knowledge. Bethany did a fantastic job of making that possible, in her presentation. I'd highly recommend her as a speaker on all things fundraising and development.
