  I have taught a violin studio of up to 18 students (ages 3 and up) since August 2011. I primarily use the Suzuki Method and have been trained to teach Books 1-3 but have gone through all 10 books and studied beyond, focusing on repertoire from the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic periods.   I have worked as a general assignment reporter and have covered a variety of topics, but my writing specialties include meetings, government, and analysis. I have also done investigative reporting, feature stories, page design and layout, editing/proofreading, columns, editorials, and cartoons. In addition to writing and photography, my weekly responsibilities often included the Records page (writing up and placing the police and sheriff's reports, as well as editing and placing obituaries, announcements and their photos), laying out one of the two weekly Viewpoints pages, designing the calendar, and occasionally editing other articles as well as restructuring my own for impact and relevance. Additional responsibilities included coordinating the School Times section, which is published every month of the school year. School Times duties entail working with schools to collect content, editing the submitted stories and photos, taking the cover photo, arranging to write other stories or cover school events as needed, and laying out the section. Evanston Civic Orchestra

  I was the concertmistress of the orchestra for several years, which involved leading the first violin section as well as collaborating with the conductor in working with the orchestra. Since the summer of 2016, I have worked to hone perfect pitch, starting with transcribing a multi-instrumental piece from YouTube by ear and working to recreate it. As of April 2017, I have also done musical arrangement on commission for the Evanston Civic Orchestra and Chorus, two pieces of which were performed at the May 25 concert. Show less
