I send out weekly requests for news items via email and then create a handout of all current events, activities, parent reminders, and volunteer opportunities on google docs. I update the school's webpage with the current information, along with updating forms, creating volunteer sign-ups, and uploading meeting agendas and minutes. I make copies for students without internet access at home and organize those into classroom mailboxes. Assistant to the Executive Director
-
Aug 2007 - May 2009
I served as assistant to the executive director of the center and worked specifically on projects that he oversaw. I took notes and transcribed audio recordings of meetings with superintendents, discussions on consolidation of services, and other meetings. I maintained website information through Dreamweaver. I helped create monthly newsletters for member schools and the copying and organizing of the printouts. I ordered lunches for workshops and kept a supply of refreshments on hand for meetings. I created a library check-out system for center employees to borrow from the center's modest collection of books. Show less

National Lakeshore Bookstore Manager
-
May 2006 - Aug 2007
I was the sole Eastern National employee on site at the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore headquarters. I ran the daily operations of the bookstore there and sold books, clothing, gifts, pins, and other national park memorabilia. I was also able to provide recommendations to visitors and assist the interpretive rangers when necessary. I did inventory counts, organized a store room, kept the shelves and displays stocked and neat, and conducted all sales.
