Two year Graduate Development Programme with Forestry Commission Scotland. During year 1 I took the role as Environment Forester within a busy forest district. Responsibilities included delivering management on conservation and heritage sites, notably implementing an invasive species clearance programme and managing and coordinating contractors to ensure high health and safety, and delivery standards. I also provided advice and support to other operational Forestry Commission departments, procured protected species surveys and ensured EPS guidance was followed during operations, managed data within the GIS system and oversaw the programme of work for future years.Working within South Scotland Conservancy during Year 2, I liaised with wind farm developers on developments affecting forestry, liaised with other government departments and private land owners to bring SSSI's into favourable condition contributing to Scottish Government targets, reviewed forest design plans alongside other regulatory work.
