I worked alongside a Senior Events Manager where I handled the majority of the events at the hotel. Part of my role was to negotiate and communicate end to end management of all assigned projects to the highest production standards. On a day to day basis I created event schedules for all the events I was working on and coordinated with other outlets such as food and beverage to ensure the client’s needs were met. Working for such a globally recognised company, it was essential that I adhered to the high expectations and standards set by the brand and its customers.

Junior Event Executive

Sep 2014 - Apr 2015
As part of my university degree I spent 8 months in Dubai working for an events agency as a Junior Event Executive. I was trusted with assisting as well as running my own events. This experience has made me aware of how important brand identity is. I planned and executed Jo Malone and Bobbi Brown PR dinners for influential bloggers, socialites, press and media. I worked and negotiated with a range of suppliers which included printers, designers, venues and caterers. I met tight deadlines to ensure the events were a success. I worked with strict global guidelines. Working with global brands meant that I regularly travelled to manage events places include; Kuwait, Oman, Prague, Croatia, Abu Dhabi and various locations around Dubai. Other brands I have worked with include: HSBC, AIG, flydubai, BlackBerry, Havaianas, MetLife, Liebherr and Crocs. Working with a range of brands has allowed me to work on a range of corporate events such as product launches, in-store events, gala dinners, mall activations and seminars. I also completed a range of tasks including venue searching and booking, email RSVPs, budget management, F&B management, supplier negotiating, client communication etc.

I was given the chance to see how an Event team plan and execute a wide variety of business to business events. I helped with the preparation for the Wigan Business Awards. Another responsibility I was given was to create a presentation for the ceremony and I assisted with pre-event tasks, including creating delegate lists and name badges. I assisted at their Business Leader Lunch, where John Timpson CBE was interviewed. I was also given a task to look at how the Chamber uses Social Media to promote themselves.
