Working in close collaboration with Doctors and Nurses to provide the best possible patient outcomes for acute, chronically ill patients, rehabilitation and hospice patients. Admission, assessment, diagnosis, treatment and discharge of patients in the emergency department and after admission to the hospital unit. Hospitalist coverage is extended to medical surgical, intensive care, observation and emergency departments. Knowledge of the most up to date treatments, pharmacology and assessment procedures is used to provide the highest level of patient care. Hampton Regional Medical Center is partnered with MUSC to offer the highest quality care to rural areas through TeleMedicine. In addition to the 7 bed Emergency Department, the hospital has 20 medical surgical beds and 4 ICU beds (on a typical day, the hospital is mostly full, 13-17 patients) that are managed by the Nurse Practitioner with the help of Doctors at MUSC. Each morning the Nurse Practitioner, Hospitalist, calls the on call Doctor at MUSC to discuss the patients admitted to the hospital and to collaboratively develop a plan of care. The Nurse Practitioner, Hospitalist, is then in charge of all of the patient management, including admission, discharge, education, analysis of treatment, documentation, lab and imaging orders, assessment and evaluation of treatment outcomes.
