The golf market had been in decline since around 2004 and Mytime Active were looking at the best strategy to improve their financial situation in the golf division. I was asked to undertake a two-week project to assess the current position of Pay and Play vs. Membership in the UK golf market and to present my findings to the company’s directors. I collated together internal and external data on the golf market, assessing the most appropriate way to assess the current position of Mytime, local competitors and the market. I then analysed the data so that the company could see where they were compared to the market and local competitors over a period of time. Using the statistical analysis I created a detailed report which included an executive summary and conducted a presentation. This presentation gave an opportunity for the company to reflect on my statistics and debate the recommendations on which strategy the company should undertake to improve their financial position.

A team of 3 of us were tasked with auditing the accounts of a major travel company. I was given overall control of the Bank, Fixed Assets and Wages sections of the audit. For these sections I gathered together the relevant information and conducted the required tests with very little assistance. Often I would also have to go and personally speak with the client to gain further insight into their accounts. I produced the appropriate sections for the audit in the company format with high praise from my team manager.

      • Jul 2012 - Aug 2012

As a result of the high praise I received having completed work experience with the company, I was asked to cover the position of corporate recovery secretary whilst they interviewed for the permanent position. This required me to adapt quickly to this new role in which I had several responsibilities; Dealing with client calls, partners diaries, meeting rooms and handling customer interaction. I managed to get in contact with the previous corporate tax secretary to ask for some advice and guidance. She kindly gave me a handbook to use as a reference point. Consequently I was able to deal with every situation that arose quickly and professionally. Moreover I felt that I improved my communication, organisation, interpersonal skills and understanding of the industry.
