Subject Area Leader: To support teachers in their area to ensure best practices in teaching and learning together with innovative practices at the school. Administration and Supervision Review all annual goals of the Department with the coordinator and teachers in their department; Hold and lead regular Department meetings Work collaboratively with the MYP and DP Coordinators to ensure effective implementation of the IB Continuum program. Visit classrooms to provide feedback to teachers on their practices and the outcomes of the visits are to be shared with the coordinators. Curriculum and instruction Create regular opportunities for teachers to share, reflect and improve on classroom practice; Ensure assessment and feedback strategies are of the highest standards and have a direct impact on improving the quality of teaching and learning; Ensure assessment and standardization processes occur in both the MYP and DP; Assist in the development of teaching and learning policies across the school in collaboration with the coordinators Review annually the scope and sequence of the subject area. Encourage experiential learning opportunities for department members. Budget Prepare an annual budget for their area of responsibility and ensure that the department stays within the set budget. Oversee responsibility for ordering, inventory, and distribution of departmental materials. Ensure timely and adequate provision of textbooks, materials, and equipment required for the effective teaching of the subject Ensure that the maintenance and upkeep of equipment related to the subject is regularly carried out; Keep in mind safety protocols and the needs of the program. Professional Development Provide in-service training to ensure that members of the department are up to date with educational best practices and trends as related to departmental and school objectives.
