Student of the Advanced Characterisation of Materials (ACM) centre for doctoral training. The focus of my project was to use bottom-up synthetic biology strategies to design nanopores that housed disordered proteins - as a mimic for the highly selective biofilter, the nuclear pore complex. My research was split between Imperial College London, University College London (UCL) and Birkbeck (BBK), working with a multidisciplinary team. A three month research placement at Yale University led a strong collaboration with researchers from the Medical School and a number of publications.
