      MDL, are a biotechnology company based in Malvern, Worcestershire. MDL is experienced in taking concepts, such as the company's world-leading competitive exclusion products, through to commercial reality. Products include AviGuard and FlightPath for use in chickens, turkeys, game birds and racing pigeons, whose purpose is to prevent the colonisation of the gastro-intestinal tract by pathogenic bacteria through the practical aspects of competitive exclusion.       I applied to Malvern between my 2nd and 3rd year of my first degree in order to gain experience in a professional environment. I was sucessful, and privilaged to gain exposure to most areas of the business, from Research and Development, through Applications and Contract Services, through Production to IT and Customer Service. My main achievement during my time with Malvern was the definition, process design and process validation of the MasterSizer 2000 Sample Accessory (sonication/agitation/media pumping) - that was integrated into the firmware of the equipment. I was offered a position with the organisation, but was unable to accept it due to my educational commitments at the University of Sheffield.
