Ben is a highly accomplished Sales Manager, with an authentic charm and brilliant sense of humour. His diverse range of experience and track record of success is always underpinned by an empathic understanding of his client’s needs. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Ben a few times on Marketing related initiatives, and each time we’ve worked extremely well as a team. Ben is creative, constructive, and very comfortable forming ideas on how to improve the experience for his customers. His proactive, easygoing, and warm approach makes him a powerful seller and wonderful teammate.

As contact centre experts since 1995 we deliver inbound, outbound, web and email response and fulfilment services, with transparency, professionalism and integrity.Be there for your customers 24/7/365 in the channel that suits them best.I was looking for a career change away from the Music Industry and into a market where I could work alongside a wider range of customers. This was an ideal Role for me to learn all about the workings, requirements and goals of the business and gave me the perfect insight into the Hotline and Whistleblowing service Expolink provides. During this time I began my training with the Whistleblowing hotline team.Reason for Leaving: Promotion to Sales Manager Show less

    • Sales and New Business Development Manager
      • Jun 2012 - Apr 2013

Following my time in the music industry I was asked to join Squash Imagery and use my skills, knowledge and experience to work with and advise the team for a contracted period. I generated new business leads by not only contacting businesses directly but by focussing on brand awareness utilising sales led focused marketing tactics and by nurturing a solid presence on social media. Squash was a fledgling company but in this time we turned over around £30k and delivered presentations to over 90 marketing directors/creative managers in both marketing and various manufacturing industries. We obtained new immediate business from just over 25% of these meetings as a direct result of my work. This experience has given me a detailed look into a range of industries - it has widened my knowledge and experience in new B2B relationship management, social media marketing and presenting. Reason for leaving: End of contract. I had fulfilled my role and created the necessary leads and ongoing work for the client. Show less

    • Sales and Marketing Director
      • Jun 2010 - Apr 2012

In 2010 I started my own musical instrument distribution company distributing seven guitar brands (along with other products) throughout the South of the UK. We turned over just under £500k in the 18 months and returned a healthy profit of around 26%. I handled a wide spectrum of customer accounts, budgets, forecasts, targets, credit control, consumer enquiries, marketing, artist relations, warrantee repairs and all the day to day tasks involved in running a company. I managed or part managed one office staff, a finance director, one on-the-road Salesman, and a distribution partner based in Leeds. We exhibited at a number of trade shows in the UK and attended others in California and Germany as well as factory visits and business meetings in Montréal Canada, Italy and LA. It was a fantastic experience and I learnt a great deal about business and myself. Reason for leaving: A substantial squeeze to our payment terms enforced by our main manufacturing partner made it very difficult to continue trading so we took the tough decision to wind the company up. • Guitar Division Manager
      • May 2006 - May 2010

The products I represented for the company were electric and acoustic guitars as well as a range of accessories all of which were guitar related. I covered the entire UK calling on musical instrument shops selling B2B. In the first 12 months of Active gaining the Godin distribution, we had more than tripled the preceding year’s sales held by the previous UK distributer. During the last few months I focused solely on the ‘Key Accounts’ and as a result secured business with most of the major players in the music retail industry. Active Music are predominantly a Drum/Percussion Distribution company so I found it very exciting and challenging to take charge of the new guitar division venture. Reason for leaving: The opportunity to start my own distribution company. Show less

I ran a £1m turnover area for Roland’s Music Industry division. My area covered Wales, the West and the South-West of the UK. I grew the business by 17% after my first year and it continued to grow until my departure in 2006. The products I sold included synths, electronic drum kits, guitar effects, recording studios and amplification. This role was a big learning curve for me as I was fresh out of a retail environment so had a lot to discover and take on board about B2B selling. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Roland but yearned to experience more of the industry. Reason for leaving: Approached by Active Music to run the Guitar Division for the UK Show less
