By sourcing a variety of exciting stories from across the organisation, and working with journalists at a wide range of media outlets I engage new audiences, increase brand awareness, apply pressure on companies and policy makers, and inspire people to do their bit for the planet. It is crucial that these stories sit well across digital and social media content, in order to ensure maximum impact.Responding to short lead news opportunities. Drafting quotes and reactions on behalf of the organisation to ensure that Friends of the Earth can quickly and effectively land media coverage in reaction to breaking environmental news stories. My focus issues include increasing tree cover, fighting plastic pollution, and boosting urban nature.

    • Intern
      • Oct 2014 - Dec 2014

      • Project intern, as part of the Leonardo Da Vinci programme. I researched, planned and put together an interactive video exhibit on the etymology of Flamenco, working under pressure to a tight deadline prior to Christmas. This exhibit went on display on the 18th December 2014, with further languages due to be added. My work is presented in the museum’s exhibition area so requires a great amount of attention to detail and demonstrates my proficiency in written communication. Since my return to England in late December I have been working with the Spanish team there to translate my work into Spanish, German and Italian.• I further assisted the museum with a number of projects with a specific focus on English speaking visitors. This included improving the translation and history found in their English guide book along with the captions found throughout the museum. My role here extended to taking groups of tourists and students on tours around the museum. This enabled me to develop my practical skills in Spanish speaking.

      • Jul 2013 - Sep 2014

      • I volunteered as a Gallery Assistant on the Thomas Fearnley “In Front of Nature” exhibition. I loved being able to make people feel welcome and ensuring that they had as good an experience as they could in the gallery. Working as the supervisor of the volunteer team at the private viewing event in December where “Portrait of a Lady”, “Inspired by Lace” and “The Finest Example of his Work” was excellent for me too. I learnt how to coordinate a team of people and how to rethink my original plans according to short term developments – for example if one gallery was busy beyond what was anticipated. I relished the opportunity to work in such a renowned art and design institution• Casual member of staff in a front of house position. I enjoyed being able to work closely with departments across the gallery; exhibitions, access and learning and security. My responsibilities here include running the gallery shop, answering visitor queries and communicating with security and maintenance to coordinate deliveries, visitor safety and special requirements such as lift access. Further to this, I would check over the schedule of events taking place each day to ensure that the appropriate set up was in place for them, for example catering tables.

Overseer of the use of social media to connect with external companies such as Pizza Express, Blissfields Festival, Eden Festival, Gatecrasher Club and the Student Radio Association• Organisation and promotion of music events. The highlight being in a night of live music called BURN Live. This involved liaising with bands and promotional agencies across the countries to book the acts for the night and writing a press release for before and after the event. • As part of Community Day we welcomed children and families into the studio, and taught them about radio presenting.
