I'm responsible for the IT/Technical flow of life insurance policies for enterprises. After a good cup of coffee I check if any incidents occurred during the night. The definition of an incident is quite wide... it can be a deadlock of the IMS/DB2 databases, a job flow that gave an abend due to incorrect use of datasets or program logic that was changed because of a recent change. After checking the urgency of the problem with technical-/business colleagues I start fixing them straight away or post-phone them to fix in a later release. After some short -but rewarding- lunch I draw technical designs for upcoming projects. These designs vary from program designs to job flow designs based on a functional analysis given by a business colleague. For documentation purposes I use MEGA, but for some sketch-wise designs I prefer using VISIO. Once the designs are finished I program them using COBOL or SAS in combination with JCL. If the requirements are met (using unit tests) I start filling in my release change in Service Now and prepare my Changeman packages for production.
