Implementation Engineer
-
May 2018 - Sep 2019
Worked on a team that implemented customer solutions as part of the Managed Services division. Using a project oriented approach, worked through customer builds and deployed solutions to their requirements. Deployments started with OS deployment, continued through software installation and configuration, and then ended with any specific needs of the customer. Solutions varied from Windows systems, Linux Systems, and AWS deployments. They also included firewall and network configurations. System Engineer
-
Aug 2013 - Feb 2018
At its core, my team was responsible for the security and availability of all internal company assets. We also designed and implemented all new systems and environments, ensuring they were up to necessary compliance specifications. While we worked as a team, I also independently worked on several projects at once, completing tasks as possible, and balancing time to ensure they were all completed. I helped implement and maintain a DSC with Puppet, helping ensure all of our systems were uniform. I also assisted support and other technical teams with their most difficult problems, solving the issues that others couldn’t. I made sure to use those opportunities to teach solutions to others, ensuring people would be able to solve them from them on. I also built a patch dashboard to ensure all of our Linux servers were routinely patched, and used it to monitor those servers to see what was out of date. Show less

Senior Operations Technician
-
Sep 2007 - Aug 2013
In this role I was responsible for every aspect of work in the Newark Datacenter. Responsibilities were monitoring environmental and backup systems, deploying and decommissioning any hardware in the datacenter, and responding to alerts and alarms. I was also responsible for initial troubleshooting of any down system, and working to get it up and operational as quickly as possible. Certain instances also required vendor interaction for issues that were beyond the datacenter crew. As time went on, I was responsible for training all new hires and ensuring they knew all the proper procedures. Also, I started getting involved in new hire interviews to help determine who was a good fit for the team. Show less

Technical Service Specialist
-
Sep 2002 - Sep 2007
This role was a typical TSR position - answer customer calls and chats, fix their issues, and escalate issues as needed. It also required troubleshooting skills for the more involved issues. As time went on, I spent less time on phones, and more time tackling the complicated, hard to solve problems. For a time, I also ran the overnight support team, handling any light managerial duties that came up during those hours. The troubleshooting skills I picked up, as well as the communication skills, stick with me now. Show less
