Working across two centres I was responsible for designing weekly activity programmes and ensuring that my team of activity leaders delivered the programme to the highest standard. I also regularly liaised with group leaders to ensure that the groups of multinational students were enjoying their time and engaging with the activities. I planned 2 excursions a week to a variety of tourist attractions across the United Kingdom and made sure that suitable transport was booked as well as completed risk assessments for the attraction. Communication between myself and the rest of the management team was crucial to ensure that everything was running smoothly and that activities incorporated things that the children were learning in English lessons. This communication was especially important during the two day British Council inspection to ensure that the centre was running to the best of its ability.

  • The Dove Tail
    • Oakham, England, United Kingdom
    • Kitchen Assistant
      • Jun 2021 - Aug 2021

My time at the Dove Tail was full of hard work in a high pressure environment. During meal services I was at hand to deal with any problems the chef had such as ensuring the kitchen was clean, equipment was clean and stored correctly, collecting supplies from the fridge and mainly washing and storing all of the plates, pots and pans. It was particularly busy on weekends, which meant the pressure on my self and the team was increased. This meant that everything had to be washed and dried quickly so that it could be used again almost immediately. I learned many valuable lessons at this job such as working effectively under pressure, and specifically communication, as it was vital that the whole team knew what was happening at all times to ensure the best experience for the customers.

During my brief placement here I shadowed members of the department, learning about the economic policies between india and the UK. Specifically at the time, we were focusing on what effect Brexit would have on the relationship between the two countries. • Jul 2019 - Jul 2019

During my placement here I acquired new skills such as soldering and de-soldering components on a PCB, learning how to dismantle and construct an anaesthetic machine as well as performing electrical safety tests on medical appliances. I was able to delve in to the day to day schedule of a clinical engineer, which included doing daily rounds of the hospital to inspect and perform operational tests on the equipment being used by patients. In addition to learning new skills, I was also able to further enhance my existing skill set. My communication skills were vital when carrying out cross department tasks in the hospital. I also had the opportunity to conduct my own research on the chemical reactions which take place in an anaesthetic machine and the effects these have on the patient.

During my placement at Lincoln Hospital I was mainly veiwing different types of cancers scans taking place while being taught how they work and what to look for in the resulting images. I also spent time with a cardiologsit who to took me through how to read an ECG and how to interpret images of the heart for different cardiac problems. It was all very fasinating. I had the chance to use the ultrasound machine on both my self and other colleagues to find specific blood vessels in our arms. The difference between performing an ultrasound with and without the gel really surpised me.
