If you have to opportunity to work for or with Benjamin Mertz, I encourage you to do so. The things that he's accomplished, his myriad of projects and charities and the way he balances it all with an insatiable drive makes him one in a million. Ben does not try, he does. With him, your goals can be attained and your ambition surely matched. Ben handles well under pressure, and can micromanage many different projects under extreme levels. The first time I saw Benjamin perform he was no older than 16 years old, moving audiences with Jazz and Blues inspired tunes occasionally with a classical or contemporary piano number to awe-inspire the audience further with his range and talent as a musician. I've never been to a performance where the audience didn't stand and applaud his work. But I know Ben at a personal level now, too. And he connects with his audiences sincerely, understanding not only the music but the people who enjoy it which is surely why he's been able to achieve his current level of success and charity without slowing down. Ben is moved by the spirit of giving, he's never held back offering a kind word or gesture, or offering whatever aid he has at his disposal. He works hard, even if he's the only one to do so, because to Ben, the product is the reward not the recognition. His passion and will to achieve is what makes him a success, his talent and his temperament are what make him a step above the rest.

I would like to recommend Benjamin as a piano teacher. I took lessons from him and in a short time found myself playing better. Benjamin is able to teach many styles and is adaptable. He made reading music and learning chord structure fun! I also witnessed the wonderful work that he did with the music students at SA. He makes the house rock with non professionals. This is a sign of a true pro in my opinion. He brings out the best in all of us. Thank you Benjamin for being flexible, encouraging and interesting. I am your fan! Amy Calhoun
