With being promoted to assistant branch manager after being with the company for just under a year was a real achievement for me. The company I now work for was re branded from PTS to City Plumbing it is the same company which is still owned by the Travis Perkins group. My job role now involves sales, serving on the trade counter, loading and unloading of deliveries. Now I also have taken on a lot more responsibilities which include, Open and closing of the branch - I am now a key holder for the branch and open up each morning and with the branch manager take it in turn to close at the end of the day. Cashing up - I now have the responsibility of at the end of each day to count the till and then prepare the money for banking which is taken at the end of each week depending on how much is taken each week. Chasing new business - We at City Plumbing are constantly looking for new business to bring through the door, I now have a bigger task of attracting new business and we do this through having breakfast mornings, trade evenings for existing customers as well as we need to keep them happy but we do this to introduce new customers. Review order margin and invoicing - This is a process that we do at the end of each working day where we confirm how much margin we are making on each sale. Customer orders - With the promotion I have a bigger input on ordering products in for customers, making sure everything is correct and will be in stock when we say it will be. Also arranging with them if they would need it delivered or not. Working at City Plumbing has given me the opportunity to further my career by being promoted to the assistant branch manager, on days when the manager is away on courses or has holidays booked I then have to step up and take charge for however long they are away. While working for PTS my role was a customer service assistant this role included, Sales - creating sale opportunities with new and existing customers. Service - maintaining good customer service with customers, helping with any quires that they may have. Also going that extra mile to help different customers with certain products and assisting them in any way I can, whether that may be chasing up orders or helping them take goods to their vehicles. Warehouse work - At the branch we don't particularly have a large warehouse so it can be hard to keep it tidy as deliveries do tend to pile up on each other if you don't keep on top of it. Unloading Deliveries - We receive a number of deliveries each week so having my forklift license was a real bonus as it meant I could take the pressure of the branch manager by unloading the deliveries. Working as a customer service assistant in the past had really helped me settle in as dealing with customers and the public is something I really enjoy. I feel like my confidence in handling customers complaints and quires is something I've really improved on, I have grown more as a person and feel even more comfortable working on my own initiative as everyday in this role is different. With working on a constantly busy shop floor, I was able to develop communication skills as well as improving my interpersonal skills with my colleagues and the general public. I was given many responsibilities within this role that I feel have improved my working ability. Team leader for staff when section co-oridinators were absent. Managed and created display units for the front of store and window displays. Ensuring all objectives were met to a high standard within deadlines. Trained in waste management resulting in the organisation of daily plans for staff to complete. Sales promotor for the stores new products and special offers. Member of the fire safety team, ensuring procedures were carried out correctly if needed and organising fire drills with managers and supervisors. Show less
