I began as an independent consultant with BlueOrchard Finance in New York, United States before obtaining formal employment as a Research Associate based in Geneva, Switzerland. My initial focus as an independent consultant was to critically examine correlation trends between microfinance accounting performance indicators (ROA, ROE, PAR-30, PAR-90) and measures of domestic and international economic trends (GDP and MSCI indices). As Research Associate my main occupation was distilling the background research and insights into the microfinance industry into a series of seminars for marketing and innovation purposes. Other significant tasks include: • Estimation of sovereign ratings for developing countries unrated by credit rating agencies, using correlation techniques applied to World Bank data sets • Providing strategic links for “Impact Squared”. A proposal for rigorously evaluating the impact of impact investments leveraging microfinance credit scoring mechanisms in regression discontinuity design methodology and Multidimensional Poverty Indicator methodology • Lead role in transition of BlueOrchard Finance legal, organizational and policy structure to comply with the Alternative Investment Fund Directive (AIFMD) • Brown Bag seminars: Drafting and presentation of Bi-weekly seminars delivered to BlueOrchard Finance staff and senior management on recent trends in microfinance academic research. At my request I was permitted to research and deliver a seminar charting the history of Randomized Evaluations of Microfinance drawing from the work of David Roodman • Development of a standardized internal rate of return calculator to facilitate pricing comparisons Contact: Charles (Chuck) Olson, Chief Credit Officer, Blue Orchard Finance Tel: +41-22-596-4712; Cell: +41-78-750-4712; chuck@blueorchard.com Show less
