Topics covered include; the co-evolution of psychology and policing, suspect interview strategies, street psychology for police (e.g. detecting those giving personal false details), police decision making, using ‘nudge psychology’ to prevent crime, and how knowledge of criminal careers can be used to detect serious offenders (e.g. self-selection policing). • Instructor - Sexual Assault Crimes and Hostage Negotiations
      • Dec 2013 - Jul 2017

After two years in the leadership development department with the Justice Academy, I have crossed over to developing and providing classes related to investigating sexual assaults. My main focus will be liaising with law enforcement agencies related to ongoing investigations and developing investigative training courses in keeping with current research, tools and practices. Additionally, I will continue providing hostage negotiation courses in combination with assisting agencies with related incidents while maintaining knowledge of current affairs and circumstances as they unfold. I am very proud to continue serving with The North Carolina Justice Academy in its continuing efforts to offer top-of-the-line training, networking and leadership. Show less
