At Farm Design during the first three weeks myself and another intern were tasked with creating a semi-functioning mock-up of a surgical robot. This was to be used as a tool for user testing, human factors studies, and checking engineering parameters. The second project I had included conducting user testing of a product for design enhancement. My last project involved developing an instrument used mainly in spinal surgeries. This involved multiple meetings with our client as well as spinal surgeons. We had to study the current workflow strategy and enhance that with the new product. The project had many conundrums in creating a streamlined workflow and simple interface, but the challenge was rewarding to solve. I left my internship after creating CAD data for the final design intent.

At my second internship at Newell Rubbermaid Office Products I was tasked more with overall support to a wide range of brands including Sharpie, Prismacolor, and Expo. I helped create a multitude of future concepts for these different brands involving renderings and initial mock up concepts. While at my first internship at Newell Rubbermaid Office Products I was given the opportunity to take marketing strategy product and bring it to life. This started with understanding what marketing wanted out of the idea and then conceptualizing it. I was in charge of setting up meetings with marketing and engineering to collaboratively bring the product through the conceptual phase into final design surfacing. After creating the CAD surfacing in Solid Works I then worked closely with an Engineer on staff to bring the product to manufacturing ready geometry while maintaining the design intent. Finally initial molds and plastic parts were made for review.

During my second internship at Hasbro the game had been further fleshed out whilst I had returned to school. Development of game play had slowed down and my tasks now mainly involved final tweaking and error testing. My job this internship consisted of branding the different characters and races. I had to take into consideration the races personalities based off of their abilities. From there I had to create graphics and pieces that would reflect those abilities and personalities that wove into an overall experience and story for Risk Legacy.

During my first internship at Hasbro, I worked mainly in the board game world. I was staffed as a supporting designer under the development of the newest Risk board game, Risk Legacy. Still in the early developmental phases I was heavily involved in helping to conceptualize game play, board pieces, and game graphics. I got to play a lot of Risk, and make up the rules....it was awesome. During my first internship at Hasbro, I worked mainly in the board game world.
