CAMAAY(Cameroon Association of Active Youths) is in the process of developing a specific business plan and project proposal for the recycling of plastic waste in their country Cameroon. In Cameroon, cities suffered from floods aggravated by plastics clogging up rivers and blocking gutters. Then, I was chosen for this project team by the organization. After the team is gathered via online platforms, we started to discuss how to develop an award-winning business plan for the setting up of a plastic recycling plant in Cameroon. First, we started to search for a business plan which is developed already to get an idea about it. Then we came up with different potential company names, core values of the company, and finally, companies doing similar things. Our group leader created a work plan. I was responsible for searching what are the different types of machinery, which should be used to segregate plastic waste, how and from where the collection of Plastic waste should happen, how transportation of collected Plastic waste should happen to the site. Deep-down search about transportation vehicles, collection of plastic waste from streets is examined. The editing team adjusted the work and presented it to the head of the project. It was a great experience for me because I worked with English, Spanish, Indian, etc people around the world. Working with those people taught me how to be functional with an international team.

Process Development Intern

I have worked as a process development intern at Koç University. Our department is working with Koç University's other departments like dormitory, security, IT, etc. My job was assisting my team on projects. I have worked on Q&A about Covid-19 and the new system that university will be adapting in the next semester (Fall2020). For this project, lots of researches about USA universities (Harvard, Stanford, etc.) are done, their back to campus plans are examined and detailed Word and Excel sheets are prepared to discuss these topics with General Secretariat then to present them to rectorship. This research was important to the university to make decisions about remote education and how to manage the remote education process. Then, I started work on an agile transformation. I have searched about this topic and how big companies use this strategy and how they adapt it culturally. These studies started with research but kept continue with the application of agile transformation to our departments.

Research Assistant

I worked with Assistant Professor Safacan Kölemen in his laboratory. Our study was about photodynamic cancer therapy. Photodynamic therapy is a kind of treatment which uses drug (photosensitizers) and light. When these drugs are exposed to light with a specific wavelength, they produce reactive oxygen that kills cancer cells. I worked on synthesis reactions, applied purification methods like column chromatography. During the summer, I worked on this project and did lots of experiments with other assistants in the lab. This experience taught me how to be a good team member in a project, how to handle urgent situations, and being patient.
