College of Europe, Natolin - Careers and Alumni Relations Office
During the academic year 2015/16 Benedetta took active part in a number of student initiatives at the College of Europe: its European Affairs blog, its first and very successful TEDx conference, and a volunteering project for refugee children. Benedetta worked as a coordinator of the speakers team during the preparation of the TEDxCollegeofEuropeNatolin event, entitled ‘(When) It’s Up to You’. This TEDx conference was the very first such project organised in Natolin and it took place on 6 April, driven by the initiative of its highly motivated student-organisers and featuring a diverse group of innovative thinkers from many different walks of life presenting inspiring talks on the role of choice in the modern world. Benedetta also took active part in a volunteering project implemented jointly by the College of Europe, Natolin campus and Warsaw-based NGO Fundacja dla Wolności. The project culminated in a day-long event organised for refugee children from the Warsaw Centre for Foreigners, whose original concept, coordination and on-the-day teamwork were the responsibility of the student-volunteers, Benedetta. The volunteering project comprised preparatory workshops on cross-cultural integration and working with refugees, the event itself, and a debriefing session. Finally, Benedetta contributed three articles to the blog of the Natolin campus community at the College of Europe (www.natolinblog.com). Benedetta's contributions dealt with the economic cost of climate action, Turkey’s prospects of EU membership and the experience of organising a TEDx conference, enriching the multidisciplinary dialogue the blog strives to establish. The Natolin Campus blog is an online platform which aims to promote discussion and reflection on a range of topics related to the subjects covered by the MA in European Interdisciplinary Studies programme, serving as a common space for College students, alumni and faculty in which to exchange ideas about European affairs and International Relations.
