Incident Response, Business Continuity, and Disaster Recovery planning to support evolving business objectives. Provide skills development and coaching to direct reports, determine appropriate staffing levels, and ensure 24 hour coverage and incident response. Establish baseline configurations and configuration management procedures for network services. Establish documentation procedures. Build framework to thwart breach attempts and protect confidential and proprietary information. Perform strategic and capacity planning for DOCSIS networks serving 25+ communities. Support various internal divisions: internal corporate services, customer facing service provider services, and call center operations.Established discovery, consolidation, and virtualization roadmaps for network services. This resulted in reduction in operational costs due to a reduction in the number of support platforms, and through reduction in facilities costs due to the reduction in the number of physical servers. • System Administrator II
      • Sep 2011 - May 2014

Ongoing support and feature development on Microsoft Mediaroom IPTV middleware. I am heavily involved in feature development and support of residential gateway devices as well as in depth troubleshooting and diagnosis of OSI Layer 1-4 network and access technology issues that impact video quality and availability across various access technologies (FTTx, VDSL, ADSL) and various vendors, primarily Calix and Enablence (Pannaway). Other tasks included Mediaroom client customizations, troubleshooting of multicast delivery issues, troubleshooting of system and end user issues, PKI renewals, and SQL Server management. Defined a standard block of compute and storage capacity utilizing VMWare vSphere and EMC VNXe storage that served as the template for multiple deployments across several disparate datacenters. Designed and documented storage, management, and virtual machine network requirements to support both single site and stretched clusters. Design and support Alvarion/Telrad WiMAX RAN using Alvarion Extreme and BreezeCOMPACT base stations and Alvarion's centralized ASN-GW. Performed ASN-GW service integration and also implemented necessary RADIUS policy using FreeRADIUS 2.0.x and EAP-TTLS. Defined configuration templates for future base stations, established configuration templates for use in MS devices, and worked with vendors and neighboring operators to establish a regional Radio Network Plan to optimize RAN network performance. Significantly reduced configuration and bug related outages through the establishment of baseline configurations and test procedures for customer premise equipment. Deployed and managed Finepoint TR-069 server to manage, upgrade, and enforce baseline configuration on customer premise equipment: xDSL/FTTH Residential Gateways, FTTH ONTs, xDSL modems, WiMAX MS devices, and Arris VAP2500 wireless access points. Tested and designed baseline configurations for residential gateway devices, VAP2500 access points, and WiMAX MS devices. Show less

    • Network Administrator
      • Sep 2005 - Oct 2011

Wireless Network and Server Administration. Primarily configured and maintained services to support network operations: ISC DHCPd, Cacti, Solarwinds Orion, Finepoint TR-069, and various vendor EMS and NMS applications: Alvarion Star Quality, Alvarion Alvaristar, Alvarion Star ACS, Allot NetXplorer, and Motorola Prism. FreeRADIUS policy including development of policy to support WiMAX network entry to include IP technology negotiation as well as generation of all required WiMAX session keys and policy to handle EAP-TLS and EAP-TTLS network entry requirements. MySQL backed FreeRADIUS servers achieved five 9s availability over nearly two years of constant operations supporting the Alvarion WiMAX and Canopy networks. I also contributed a number of WiMAX dictionary improvements and patches to the FreeRADIUS wimax module. Developed CoA integration to support dynamic Quality of Service modifications on WiMAX networks utilizing the Wichorus SC-600 ASN-GW. In 2009 I designed and built a three node VMWare vSphere 4.0 ESXi cluster with EMC AX-4 iSCSI SAN as compute foundation of future server deployments after a 12 month trial period using ESX 3.5. Roughly 75% of all systems, including critical systems and IO heavy NMS/EMS applications, had been virtualized by the sale of Wisper in late 2010. I also configured and maintained wireless radio access technologies to include Motorola Canopy in various frequency bands, Alvarion TDD and 4Motion WiMAX base stations, Purewave Quantum base stations, Tellabs (Wichorus) ASN-GW and other third party ASN-GW integration. I often worked actively with Motorola development to test beta builds, especially those that added RADIUS authentication and authorization functionality into the Motorola Canopy Subscriber Modules. Designed and coded a customer support portal to provision services and to allow all staff to troubleshoot customer connectivity issues. Other tasks included customer installs and inventory management. Show less
