  On completion of my degree I embarked upon an extended working vacation to New Zealand and Australia. Aware that my UK career would be office based, I set out to immerse myself within the agricultural industry and spent two years in full time employment on remote pastoral and arable properties. These ranged from small holdings in New Zealand raising sheep, to multimillion hectare cattle properties in Northern Queensland and ultimately farms producing cotton and cereal crops in New South Wales. Roles ranged from the helicopter coordinated mustering of cattle and animal husbandry for Australia’s largest family owned and run cattle corporation (including several stints as a bush-fire fighter) to independently managing an organically certified sheep property, operating heavy machinery during the wheat and cotton harvests and unloading Skipjack Tuna in the biggest fishing port in Australasia. Surpassing expectations, the experience as a whole was both character forming and unforgettable.
