The aim of my project is to understand the mechanical and biochemical role the protein beta-dystroglycan has within the nuclei of cells with particular focus on human myoblast cells. This is an interdisciplinary project between the biomedical science and physics departments as the project involves extensive experiments using Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) which is primarily a technique for studying biophysics.
