Temporary role between finishing my PhD and starting my position as a postdoctoral research associate.Delivered live science assemblies across the UK, and internationally, to groups as large as three hundred students, ages ranged from 8 to 18.Ran and organised practical chemistry experiments in the University of Bristol's teaching laboratories to students aged between 15 to 18. Went to primary schools across the UK to deliver practical experiments. Managed other outreach demonstrators to ensure the days ran smoothly and the visiting students got the most out of the day.Managed the digital presence of the team by handling the website, Youtube, and Twitter accounts.Created and edited worksheets for post-16 students. Chemistry PhD Student

I joined the Bristol Chemical Synthesis Centre for Doctoral training at the University of Bristol. The first year was spent exploring chemistry in a variety of research themes, including: synthesis and catalysis of gold complexes, photochemistry, and palladium and earth abundant metal catalysis.Following the first year of the CDT, I undertook my PhD research, under the supervision of Prof. Robin Bedford, studying earth abundant metal catalysis. This involved reaction development and in-depth mechanistic studies using a range of physical organic chemistry techniques.Managed a research project over four years.Collaborated internally and externally, including internationally.Organised, chaired, and managed group meetings for the Bedford research group. Outreach Demonstrator

Whilst being involved with outreach opportunities provided by Bristol ChemLabS at the University of Bristol, I have had to lead practical experiments with school students aged between 13 and 18. I have had to explain and clearly demonstrate the experimental theory and techniques to ensure that all students understood each step, whilst also ensuring that the lab environment is safe so that the students get the full benefit of attending an outreach session at the university.

Due to the success of this placement, the company has decided to continue to offer placements. Chemistry Lab Placement - Summer Student

In the summer of 2016, I successfully applied for and received funding from the RSC to carry out research in the Grainger Group, with a focus on organic synthesis. I designed and executed experiments within the lab. This placement increased my confidence in practical chemistry and allowed me to become highly independent, a skill I believe to transferable to any work. Warehouse Worker

At Shires Equestrian my main responsibilities involved the general day to day duties in the warehouse. This included picking items for orders, correctly and in a timely fashion to make sure they were shipped that day to keep customers happy. Packing items to be shipped was another role I played in the company, this involved packing goods properly so nothing was damaged during the transit of the goods. In the Goods In department I worked as part of a team making sure the warehouse was fully stocked by getting the goods off the delivery containers, whilst under time constraints, and putting them safely into the specific areas in the warehouse.
