Reporting directly to the Chief Development Engineer, I am currently responsible and accountable for a multi-discipline team of engineers, designing and delivering complex thermal hydraulic test rigs to verify the design of the RR SMR nuclear reactor passive safety cooling systems. Concept design is conducted in-house and detailed design and test delivery is conducted in the external supply chain.Responsible for organisation design and recruitment.Responsible for resource planning, cost estimating and forecasting, progress reporting to senior management and stakeholders, and risk management.Responsible for line management of engineering leads, setting objectives, monitoring progress, completing appraisals and providing coaching and development advice.Responsible for checking and approval of work produced in the team ranging from complex thermal hydraulic scaling calculations to design intent documentation and statements of work. I was responsible for developing the systems from a blank sheet of paper, conducting requirements capture, functional means assessment, concept down-select and a large number of design activities.
