I had the opportunity to work with and under Ben for two years as part of LTU's entry to the 2007 Solar Decathlon. As an undergraduate, much was asked of Ben. Beyond project design and development roles, he was tasked with managing the construction team at Lawrence Tech, managing many of the material and transportation logistics, managing the build/deconstruction in DC, and dealing with challenges and conflicts as they arose. Under an immense amount of pressure, Ben challenged himself, was resilient, and excelled in the role. He's a strong leader and I'd look forward to working with him again.

- Our team entered an international competition sponsored by the US Department of Energy to design, build and transport an entirely solar powered home in Washington D.C. to be displayed on the National Mall. - The home was constructed in Michigan, disassembled, transported and reassembled on the National Mall in Washington D.C. - As a member of the core team, we were responsible for all of the conceptual design, working drawings, construction (in Michigan and Washington D.C.) and transportation under the supervision of our professors. - Achieved project goal: design and build 800 square foot home, completely powered by solar energy - Successfully executed on-site management of finances, building and scheduling - Excelled in organization, time management and collaboration with team members to ensure project was delivered on time and on budget Show less
