It's a rarity that I come across such talent as Ben. He holds an incredible amount of machine learning knowledge under his belt, whether it's the latest research paper he's read, or implementation details on a series of reinforcement learning use cases. Ben doesn't keep this all to himself however; he is always willing to share it with those around him (me) when asked. He has a way of making complex subjects easy to understand. I highly enjoyed working with Ben at Osaro, and would do so again in a heartbeat. Between his vast skillset and how easy he is to get along with, I know he would be an incredible asset at any company. I feel lucky to have worked with him.

As part of the machine intelligence lab at the University of Tennessee I did research in deep learning and reinforcement learning. I worked on mitigating catastrophic forgetting in neural networks, and in my thesis I demonstrated that catastrophic forgetting can cause problems when neural networks are used to approximate the value function.
