Building effective teams is one of the foundations of successful project management. Having agile people who can aid in that regard is essential. One such person is Ben Dalton. I had the privilege of working with him on projects while I did an MBA in Australia. He was always collaborative, inquisitive, proactive and had a global mindset. Most importantly he delivered, time and time again. I highly recommend Ben for any project, that might involve education or entrepreneurial initiatives, among others.

Ben was one of first wine industry professionals I knew back in 1999 at Southcorp Wines. His work ethic, professionalism, coupled with easy going nature was something to be respected. Ben was well liked by colleagues, senior management and the trade. Ben is a inspirational, motivational leader and a results driven performer and achiever. I look forward to seeing Ben back in the wine game bringing more consumers into Australian wine.

Challenging role at a dynamic time of great uncertainty. Harnessing all my organisational abilities & small business experience, I very quickly became an expert able to assure & assist prospects, as well as support clients to get great results. Using the ZoHo CRM system, I created an dynamic integrated online Enrollment Form, Cashflow Boost for Employers Calculator, Diagnostic Survey & Relevant Grants Report from scratch. This meant that clients from across Australia could quickly & easily get the specific information they needed in relation to COVID & their particular business and/or sector, leaving out the hundreds of initiatives that were not applicable to them. This included Federal, State & Local Government Compliance, Grants & Support. The Diagnostic Tool also captured non-government support such as rebates, deferrals & grants offered by Industry Associations, Utilities & Private Enterprises. After initial individualised consultation, clients were kept up to date via a series of regular e-newsletters & personal contact with the goal of providing exceptional customer service. Show less

Consultant to a very wide range of small businesses and hospitality operators. I establish the strategic goals of the founder/owner/manager, and then explore how these can best be achieved tactically. Being a creative, lateral thinker, I can often provide a new perspective, resulting in practical solutions and a new direction. In their feedback, my clients say I regenerate excitement and create momentum. Consultant to a very wide range of small businesses and hospitality operators. More than 16,000 participants across 5 states and 12 venues, with an average customer satisfaction rating of 8.9 out of 10. The Cooking School (TCS) is a multi-branded B2B and B2C business that runs hands on and demonstration cooking classes. In B2C a range of classes and cookbooks have been developed that are designed to give people more confidence in the domestic kitchen in a relaxed, yet professional environment. In B2B a range of cooking class business tools have been developed so venues can start selling and conducting profitable cooking classes in their venue. This enables them to get up and running in a fraction of the time, cost and effort that would be required to start cooking classes from scratch. In addition to the regular classes, TCS also provided catering and private cooking classes for 10 to 180 attendees, both on and offsite for clients including Microsoft, JB Were, Telstra, Fosters, Barclays and others both large and small. Challenging management position during turnaround period to profitability in the context of a shrinking market globally. Ensured maintenance of world class delivery of leadership programs delivered by global thought leaders such as Richard Boyatzis and David Cooperider. This was achieved by motivating our dedicated team, liaison with multiple internal units and close consultation with contract academics . Success measured by great customer feedback and marked improvement in all performance parameters (in a field of over 30 aspects of delivery). The main purpose of this position was to promote and grow the MGSM Open Program portfolio to meet the needs of the client base. This included executives, business leaders and functional managers in Australia, New Zealand and Asia Pacific region. To ensure that the delivery of the Open Programs was successful, the role was accountable for all logistical and operational aspects of program delivery across the portfolio. The role also included Reporting, Development, Marketing and Sales. In addition to financial revenue and margin targets, there were also Customer Service and Efficiency objectives as part of managing the small team at MGSM Executive Education. The most satisfying aspect of the role was enabling the team to consistently deliver outstanding results and seeing the difference we were making in people's lives, as evidenced by the frequent exceptional customer feedback. Responsibilities • Strategically, as a Small Business Specialist I was engaged in the start-up phase of this new NSW Government initiative to help implement a major service reform of providing outstanding customer service for the people and businesses of NSW. This included providing a practical perspective for Service NSW on how to best help people who are exploring a business idea, setting up a new business, or looking for ways to grow their existing business. • Tactically, my role was to respond to members of the public seeking advice and guidance in relation to multitude of public sector policies and procedures by providing factual, accurate and succinct information via phone, email and/or letter. Achievements • In consultation with my colleagues and liaison with other Government agencies, for efficient information exchange I developed a library of over 50 Knowledge Articles that collated my experience and knowledge across a broad range of complex business subjects. This also required extensive research across a wide variety of sources of information and data, with the goal of delivery of outstanding service for small businesses in NSW. • Active participation in a wide variety of inter-agency customer service tasks that cropped up unexpectedly, including the Rural Fire Service response to the October 2013 Bushfires, the DLG Swimming Pool Register situation in November 2013, the Seniors Card Applications backlog in December 2013 and Bereavement Line overflow calls in 2014. • Contribution to the Parramatta Call Centre Induction and Operation Manuals across a wide range of tasks. Examples include drafting call answering scripts, efficient use of the CRM software, most effective use of shared resources, correct and consistent collation and completion of hard copy communication packs for Births, Deaths and Marriages (BDM) clientele and more. This helped create a culture of continuous improvement. Show less

WSB Solutions was a B2B consultancy that helped businesses achieve better beverage results by developing strategies, creating tools and measuring processes. This enabled them to be captured, replicated, measured and thus improved. The business was built from scratch as a virtual company with no employees and minimal tangible assets. This generated a superior return for minimal capital outlay. Responsibilities included all aspects of SME business development and growth, including Brand and Service Development, Compliance, Marketing, Sales, Administration, Customer Service and Quality Control. This included (for example) the rostering of up to 125 casual sub-contractors each month. By providing outstanding customer service and detailed reporting, WSB was the exclusive ‘airside’ agency for Southcorp Wines, Fosters Australia and then Treasury Wines at International airports in Australia for 10 years. Clients for Local, State and National Campaigns included: Treasury Wine Estates, Bacchus Wines, Fosters, Constellation, Nuance Duty Free, Pernod Ricard, Oatley Wines, Oyster Bay Wines and Australian Vintners and Qantas, and many other clients large and small. Other work completed included: Feasibility Studies, Conference Presentations, Wine Education Course Presentations, Team Building Exercises, Event Management, Wine List Consultation and Staff Training for Restaurants. My Business Development Manager (BDM) role included managing the transition of the organisation from 100% Government funding to a hybrid operation that is both Not For Profit and Commercial. This included building a professional Sales culture, creating the tools required by the team to achieve sales targets, and the methods to measure, report and broadcast sales and service results. Apart from team management, the role also included hands-on facilitation for a range of people and entities, requiring theoretical management knowledge and practical business sense across a wide range of fields of expertise and industries. Over 93% of my surveyed clients indicated that they would ‘Highly Recommend’ or ‘Recommend’ the facilitation service. Show less
