I worked as part of the Governance Team within Education, Curriculum and Performance. The ECP Group provides support and guidance to ensure schools can govern and manage effectively. It is also tasked with implementing schooling improvements and raising education outcomes for students. This position saw me providing assistance and advice to regional colleagues to ensure that they were supported in the financial assistance aspect of the statutory intervention process for troubled or at-risk schools. I also administered and enforced the requirements of the Education(Hostel) Regulations 2005. This involved cross checking hostel license applications against the regulations and deciding whether or not to approve applications. In addition to this I also sat as a member of the Evaluation Panel, which assessed applications from individuals seeking to provide tailored professional development and support services to Boards of Trustees. The Panel was comprised of representatives from the Ministry’s national office, the regional offices and NZSTA. Show less
