      In August 2014 I became a Director of I Love Fancy Dress Ltd. Although Director is now my title I have actually also become the buyer for all I Love Fancy Dress own brand products. My duties include sending off new designs, checking on orders, selecting new products and much more. I am currently in constant contact with our Chinese agents regarding new orders and re orders of current products.In April 2015 I went on my first Buying trip to China, visiting our agent and the main costume factory to see our items being made and talk about design issues face to face that need resolving. We then went on to Yiwu to see products available in the Yiwu market and meet new companies and factories. Finally we attended the Canton fair in Guangzhou, again to source products from new suppliers and factories, things we may not have been able to get as cheap through current suppliers.I thoroughly enjoyed the experience in China, learning about direct negotiation with factories in order to get high quality and reasonable prices as well as picking up a couple of Mandarin and Cantonese phrases along the way. I have learnt a lot about business in the last couple of years and not many people can say they run a business at the age of 21 let alone going and sourcing products in China. Our next step is to attempt product sourcing in other countries in order to lower prices even more.

If necessary dropping the product altogether if we cannot compete and make a decent profit within the market.
