CASE STUDY: REPUTATIONAL HARM TO MAJOR BRAND - USER IDENTIFIED & REMOVED FROM SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS

▶︎ 𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗖𝗟𝗜𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗦 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗘𝗡𝗚𝗘: Client is a LA based growth hacker for major corporations, brands, and celebrities. They identified that their Instagram followers were being contacted by a rival seeking to grow his business using bots to defame our client. All attempts to mediate and engage had proved unsuccessful. ▶︎ 𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗦𝗢𝗟𝗨𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡: We conducted a Digital Investigation against the Instagram profile, using OSINT & reverse engineering images on the profile to identify the person behind the Username. Using our contacts & knowledge of the Social Media platforms rules we submitted our audited report & evidence of the breach of their rules, requesting that the profile be removed from the platform. ▶︎ 𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗖𝗟𝗜𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗦 𝗢𝗨𝗧𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗘: Our client was provided with our audited report, in which we evidenced how we had identified the person behind the username. This report was submitted for use by our client's lawyers to enforce legal action against the person identified. Defuse achieved agreement with Facebook that the profile on Instagram had breached their rules and as such was removed from both Instagram and Facebook. We were reassured that should the use create a new profile that would also be removed. ▶︎ 𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗖𝗟𝗜𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗥𝗘𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗘𝗗: "We were subjected to targeted campaign on Instagram where a user was defaming my brand. Defuse identified the person responsible in an audited format that I shared with my lawyers. Because Instagram declined to help & remove the profile, I was unable to resolve the problem. Defuse liaised with them on my behalf & prove the identity & the fact that they were in breach of the rules of the site. The profile was subsequently removed & banned for Instagram & Facebook. The outcome was exactly what we wanted & proved to be achievable only with the expertise that Defuse delivered. The majority of my career was spent as a Scotland Yard Detective both in specialist and serious crime operations. My specialisms include Stalking, Tackling Fixated Persons, Counter Terrorism, Homicide, Gang and Organised Crime, Domestic Violence & Child Abuse. My final post and the culmination of my career which combined my experiences in serious crime and safeguarding was being asked to establish and manage a specialist unit following the murder of Jo Cox MP. This required me to manage threats to Members of Parliament and Peers with a national remit. I introduced protocols, built a team and implemented innovative systems to assess and manage threats. My career 'highlights' include: - Seconded to British Intelligence on counter terrorism investigations, which remain confidential. - Setting up the Parliamentary Investigation and Liaison Team (PLaIT) following the murder of Jo Cox MP - The initial Trident investigations prior to it was formalised. - The Damilola Taylor murder enquiry. - Running a covert test purchase operation following a gang murder of a young boy. This resulted in a 100% conviction rate, including 12 year old brothers and round of applause from the local community. Show less
