The Public Library Services Consultant (PLSC) provides leadership in the development of library services, including literacy services, of libraries throughout Missouri. Through the PLSC position, the Missouri State Library/Library Development offers a coordinated approach to continuing education by providing workshops and training sessions for library staff on a variety of library services, an annual statewide summer reading program for people of all ages; and grant programs to expand and improve library services. o Create project plans and drafts annual budgets for statewide projects using federal LSTA funding. o Coordinate continuing education at a statewide level o Plan and facilitate live workshops and webinars o Evaluate and process federal and state grant paperwork for approximately 9 different grant projects, including applications, interim reports, final reports, and requests for payment. o Manage resources, training, and grants for the statewide summer reading program o Support and promote the statewide early literacy program o Manage and host multiple discussion lists, including MOYAC and MoLibTraining o Create project resources, including professional printed brochures, bookmarks, and skill cards for a variety of State Library projects o Draft articles for the Missouri State Library newsletter o Write LSTA State project reports for approximately 50-100 grant projects annually. o Participate in organizations and on committees as designated below. o Present at meetings and conferences o Bid large projects by RFQ and justify final selections o Assist library staff across Missouri with questions and concerns o Train incoming staff o Participate with national federal grant projects, including the YALSA/COSLA Teen Services Competencies for Library Staff project Show less
