The role of Student Youth Offending Case Manager required meaningful direct work collaboratively with children and young people (10-18 years) who had committed criminal offences; with their parents/carers and the victims of their offences; informed by risk of re-offending, risk to the public, safeguarding and diversity needs. The work completed was undertaken at all points of the formal system: from Out-of-Court outcomes (Community Resolution Disposals, Youth Caution, Youth Conditional Caution) through to Court Orders, both in the community and with young people in custody.I had responsibility and accountability for a case-load requiring me to undertake and complete holistic, evidence-based assessments using the assessment and planning framework, AssetPlus focusing on the prevention of offending/re-offending, risk of serious harm (ROSH), safety and well-being.To analyse the information, using my professional judgement and make decisions informing intervention plans (SMART).To adopt the working together framework to share and co-ordinate the responses to safeguarding, welfare needs, risks and protective factors and service provision delivered by the most appropriate agency.To write and present reports to Referral Order Panels, keep accurate and appropriate case records and other information, to be involved in Restorative Justice processes between offenders and victims, partnership working with various statutory and voluntary agencies; within departmental policy, the requirements of the Youth Justice Board and in accordance with Effective Practice Guidelines, National Standards and other statutory obligations (Working Together Guidance, 2015; National Standards for Youth Justice, 2013; Children Act 2004, S11; Children Act 1989; Powers of Criminal Courts (Sentencing) Act 2000; Equality Act 2010; Human Rights Act 1998; Data Protection Act 1998).

Safeguarding and Care Planning TeamExperience and Knowledge:The role of Student Social Worker required Core Assessment's to be completed timely, coherently, succinctly and accurately following safeguarding concerns and referrals to the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub, and a completed Single Assessment. The Core Assessment would be evidence based and completed holistically using the Assessment Framework. Skills and Abilities:Assessment skills; information gathering using a variety of sources and methods; activities, interviews, questionnaires, scales and age appropriate play, analysis, using professional judgement, decision making and intervention planning, building collaborative, respectful, open and honest relationships with children, young people and their families; including, multiagency professionals and interagency professionals.
