I had the pleasure of working with Melissa for four years at Jewelers Mutual. Both intelligent and insightful, Melissa consistently brought new and creative ideas to the table. And where others might see a brick wall, Melissa was able to find an innovative solution that no one else had considered. She's about as smart as they come, and she's generous with her knowledge and expertise. She's a tremendous asset to any team, and I very much enjoyed working with her!

Brought onboard by Asset Protection's President for a newly created position, I wasted no time in strategizing and launching the company's first formal sales, marketing, and communications organization; folded data analytics as a key imperative into the omni-channel marketing strategy; and maximized performance of my team, budgets, MarTech stack, and a wide range of campaigns. After Berkley acquired Lavalier.com in 2016, I expanded my leadership scope to orchestrate Lavalier’s full-scale digital transformation while spearheading internal and external marketing, communications, and branding for domestic and international B2B and D2C products. As the leader of Lavalier’s Personal Jewelry Insurance Product, I optimized underwriting, servicing, marketing, sales, branding, UX, product development, and profitability; prompted a significant boost in policyholder retention, increased product revenue and profitability in 2020 to outpace growth objectives; and rolled out a new tech stack to enhance the user experience. Known for my versatility and ability to connect rapidly with others, I was tapped to join Berkley’s innovation training taskforce and evolved my personal role into the division-wide innovation ambassador. Recruited to step into a freshly minted role, I met the challenge to operationalize an aggressive growth strategy in the U.S. and Canada. No easy feat in an environment where a hesitant workforce was still reeling from a company reorganization and leadership turnover, but I’ve never been one to accept “that’s just the way we do it” as the right answer. By challenging people to ask themselves, “Why is it being done that way?” and “Is that the best way going forward?”, my teams found there’s always more than one way to achieve a goal. In the end, that's how we consistently delivered 5% to 12% above our annual growth and profitability targets. After gaining a deep, outside-in understanding of the market, competition, and customer needs, I developed an ongoing sales and prospecting strategy; led my team to strengthen and manage relationships with 150+ independent brokers while selling directly to targeted prospects/clients; and qualified and closed new business opportunities with accounts that generated $100K+ in annual revenue. Figuring prominently in developing and improving both commercial and personal insurance products, I served on the development and project team credited with fast-tracking the launch of a personal D2C insurance product in Canada. In charge of defining and executing a go-to-market (GTM) and sales strategy for the launch, we quickly surpassed our distribution goal by 25%. Not only did we position agency owners to achieve their revenue, profitability, and market share objectives, I personally fueled new business development with jewelers, agents, and customers by facilitating educational sessions and sales presentations at trade shows, conventions, and other industry events. Consumer Products Manager

2003 - 2006
After assembling a high-performing, 15-member insurance sales underwriting team, I trained, coached, mentored, and led individuals to fill and convert their sales pipelines while selling auto, home, and life insurance products across Ohio. Focused on boosting team performance, I created and managed annual budgets and sales forecasts for the state and sponsored quarterly sales meetings to improve collaboration and communication between sales and support teams—which was instrumental in increasing new business premium by 33% in 2004 and delivering an 87% spike in 2005.
