I relocated from Umea, Sweden to Hannover, Germany to work in Prof. Gisa Gerold's Lab on Proteomics and various virus infections - certainly some Adenovirus work will continue but I will also join the efforts in understanding Alphavirus infections in different infection system. Here in Umeå, I joined a project by Prof. Niklas Arnberg and Prof. Gisa Gerold, where I am focussing on host cell entry of enteric human adenoviruses types 40 and 41 in cell lines as well as infection and interaction studies of these viruses in enteroid cultures. During the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, I was also able to be involved in several SARS-2 related studies. In my postdoctoral position, I'm working on the host cell entry pathway of the human pathogen Merkel cell polyomavirus. We are employing small molecule inhibitors, RNA interference, confocal immunofluorescence microscopy, and electron microscopy to follow the virus during it's uptake. Further, I am involved in several projects related to the host cell entry of human papillomavirus type 16 ongoing in the lab. Research Group - Virus Endocytosis (Dr. Mario Schelhaas) In my PhD thesis, I have been working on the kinetic limitations during host cell entry of human papillomavirus 16. In addition to the development of my research pojects, I gained experience in scientific presentations, teaching of undergraduate students, and authoring of scientific manuscripts. I attended seminars and lectures in the curriculum of the international graduate school GRK1409 "Molecular Interactions of Pathogens with Biotic and Abiotic Surfaces".
