During the incredibly busy run up to Christmas I experienced department store retail. Guiding customers through their shopping experience by helping them with their fashion choices, measuring customers to ensure their clothing items fit correctly and completing online shopping orders into store and to their homes were all daily tasks. Restocking the floor was another important job here to make sure that customers had access to a wide range of styles and sizes throughout the working day and to ensure that the shop floor looked replenished and tidy. Purchases, refunds, discounts, staff discounts and exchanges are all till skills I am more than capable of. Due to the high demand of Christmas orders that Marks and Spencer’s experience in their foods department, I would be transferred for a day or two as a reliable and hardworking member of staff to help cope with the extra pressure. Being efficient and communicating well with customers and colleagues was important in order that the process ran smoothly without any brand damage as it is a very reputable company when it comes to higher tier supermarket food.
