This is an Arts Council England initiative to develop new opportunities for cross-arts and business collaboration, revenue creation, and a more active and engaged borough. Due to COVID 19 this work has been developed into helping Southwark Council understand the needs of cultural partners in the borough as we recover from the pandemic, through research and consultation. Scoped, devised and developed an international animation project for the Britten-Pears Foundation and British Council. Based on Benjamin Britten's Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra, I collaborated with a film artist to create a plan of delivery, teacher pack, and deliver and manage the project. The trained teachers in the UK, Bulgaria and Russia went on to deliver the work with their classes, resulting in a comprehensive and imaginative interpretation of the music. I worked as fundraiser for the National Youth Orchestra of Iraq's 2012 UK visit and then took on the role of project management. The project was ambitious - a budget of £250,000, a residential course in Edinburgh over the summer of 2012 with performances in Edinburgh as part of the Festival, Glasgow and London at the QEH, Southbank. I learned an incredible amount about the complexities of Iraq and thoroughly enjoyed working on a genuinely worthwhile example of reconciliation and hope through music, as exhausting as it was!
