Every28 is an organization focused on keeping girls in school. 1 in 10 African girls miss school for 3 to 4 days a month during menstruation. Poor access of sanitary products affect girls school attendance; a crisis Every28 is actively fighting. We receive donations from the public, and visit schools on a monthly basis to distribute monthly care packages. In addition to the care packs, we run workshops and discussion rings within the schools, talking about issues such as personal hygiene, respecting our bodies, respecting and believing in ourselves. Every month we deal with a different issue that South African girls are dealing with and we give them a safe space to discuss and debate these points. This is my charity work. I feel passionate about this cause as I know that the strength of our future lies in the women of tomorrow. If these future gladiators don't know their worth, strength and abilities... well then we have failed before we even begin.

Night Owls is a monthly gathering of creative minds. Our skill-swap events provide a platform for people to either learn or teach a new skill. We have taught over 100 skills, ranging from 3D printing, to knitting, hand drawn typography to macrame to name a few. We have connected set designers with milliners, graphic designers with VR developers and a few successful companies have developed from initial meetings at Night Owls.I started this event as part of my role at the Museum of African Design. I continued to run it after the Museum closed down. I am so proud of what was built and achieved though this monthly event.

    • Director of Creative Programing
      • Jun 2014 - Feb 2016

As Director of Education it is my responsibility to bring the exhibitions to life through creative programming. I work from strategy to implementation, ensuring the design focused events are fully attended and leading foot traffic through the Museum. My role as Creative 'Librarian' in our Maker Library within the Museum facilitates design-focused projects that solve African and South African problems. It is a collaborative space where creatives, makers, and thinkers share ideas and produce interdisciplinary design solutions. We work closely with the British Council and their Maker Library initiative, to bring collaborative solutions and projects to life. There is a strong social focus to the program as it is very much community based.
