UTHT we design and develop hyperloop pods that levitate and move at high speeds. Our goal is to win the SpaceX hyperloop competition.I worked as the lead mechanical and systems engineer in the R&D department:- Conducted conceptual design studies of the overall system and methodologies to produce high performance levitating pod. This includes working on the Linear Induction motor design for propulsion, lateral and transverse suspension systems to minimize oscillations of the motor and the body, designing the flight controller for state estimation, and selecting the sensors onboard for analysis. - Designed, simulated, and manufactured active suspension systems, braking systems, and body structure of a hyperloop pod to move in a stable manner at high speeds- Building and designing the custom made Linear Induction motor and its coil winder- Designing the flight controller for state estimation of the pod

    • Undergraduate Research Assistant - Solar Hybridization of CSP for Aluminium Production
      • Jan 2019 - May 2020

Two Journal papers are currently being submitted. This work was done with MIT Professor Ilker TariWe worked on the utilization of solar collectors in industrial processes. The primary motivation is to cut down nonrenewable energy consumption by a large margin, and that aluminum production consumed seven times more energy than steel production. I focused on modeling the Bayer Process on Aspen Plus and TRNSYS. Aspen Plus was used to Simulate the an aluminium plant in Konya, and TRNSYS was used to simulate the plant working under CSPs throughout the year. The energy required, the type of industrial fluids to be used and the amount of CO2 saved was studied. A conference paper was published, and the data was presented to the Aluminium plant. This project was supported by EU INSHIP Project (GA no. 731287).Feel free to check out https://basiljamalca.wordpress.com/papers-3/
