      Seeing the challenges facing first-generation college students, Juma Ventures set out to extend their program services to students entering post-secondary education. As the College Services Manager, I was tasked with creating a comprehensive program to support the mission of seeing Juma students earn an undergraduate degree. . Launched the Juma College Program (JCP) in 2009 to extend comprehensive support to Juma college youth for additional 4-5 years. Designed and implemented the support services of the JCP in the following areas: Transitioning to the post-secondary environment, academic coaching, financial capability, career exploration and personal support. Administer Individual Development and Scholarship Accounts for students, which included assessments of financial need and managing spending down of each individual account to support persistence. Developed a three year expansion strategy to improve efficiency and results of the Juma College Program, including yearly budgets, operating costs and staffing needs. Manage staff and volunteers to support program objectives and provide the necessary level of support for students. Track an extensive amount of data through Effort to Outcomes (ETO) to monitor student progress and create reports for Juma Leadership and the Juma Board of Directors. Collaborate with Development Team to write grant proposals and create reports to funders. Serve as member of the steering committee of the College Bound Network (CBN), working in collaboration with other college access and persistence programs to serve a greater number of students efficiently. Initiated the CBN College Cohort project to build student-run peer support networks on campuses throughout California. Demonstrated success in post-secondary persistence with a 87% persistence rate for Juma college students in its first two years.
