I am responsible for developing the AI that powers the Myn platform. With over 20 years of experience working in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, I received a 1st class honours degree from the University of Sussex in Artificial Intelligence and Neuroscience in 1998 and completed a doctorate in Neural Network modelling in 2006. My work involves all aspects of Myn's Data Science process from managing the overall direction of R&D, contributing to strategy and communicating with senior management to writing code, model training, building data pipelines and creating analytics. Designed, developed and built a probabilistic decision engine which helps customers quickly find their ideal product. By learning from the buying decisions of 1000’s of like-minded shoppers, the decision engine adapts to current usage, generating increased conversion rates and invaluable customer insights through clustering of users’ interactions. The technology is in current use and is driving increased sales on the Virgin, Orange, T-Mobile, and News International websites. I employed machine learning techniques to test novel hypotheses about visual navigation in insects. My work forms the basis of what is currently the most complete model of the route learning abilities of desert ants (Baddeley et al. 2012, PLOS Computational Biology).
