I have been working closely with Barry for 12 months now. Barry is a very natural and talented classroom practitioner. I have had the pleasure of observing his sessions on several occasions and each time I am impressed with his work. He makes all lessons interesting and engages with learners in a way that gives them genuine ownership of each session. All learner feedback on his sessions proves that he makes the learning experience something that they genuinely enjoy. In addition to his excellent classroom skills Barry also has a meticulous and organised way of working through his administrative tasks as a tutor. His paperwork is always of a high standard as IV reports will evidence and his compliance paperwork is also of a high quality. In short i cannot recommend Barry highly enough as he is a talented tutor, a conscientious team player and an extremely good man

I am currently delivering Hospitality and Employability qualifications as part the the traineeship incentive. As a work ready people tutor, I get to deliver a wide range of vocational subjects which include retail, warehousing, customer service and hospitality. My latest position with Hit Training, has given me the opportunity to deliver quality training in the hospitality sector. We deliver a range of qualifications that include Health and Safety, Introduction to the hospitality sector, Customer service, Employability and Functional skills. I also assess these qualifications as part of my role.Another priority is recruitment of learners. This involves liaising with a number of agencies and referral sources to build relationships with external partners.I also create delivery materials that support active learning and promote independent learning skills. My primary aim is to create a level of autonomy within the training programme that will give our learners the skills necessary to progress with the ability to self- manage their own career aspirations.

Over the period of a year and a half, I helped to set up a new training centre to accommodate the 16 to 18 N.E.E.T cohort in Warrington. I’ve met all organizational targets set with over achievements in most areas. Since opening in February 2013, we achieved a 100% recruitment record meeting all contractual agreements; we achieved a 99% completion rate; 92% achievement rate and a 98% progression rate. All of which have been achieved whilst delivering to learners with a whole host of barriers to learning. Our success was down to careful planning for learning and assessment; professional development of all learning materials; maintaining professional relationships with a network of external partners and services and simply having a clear understanding of what is required from today’s employment market.

At Scientiam I delivered Functional & Employability Skills to the 16-19 N.E.E.T cohorts. This involved developing and delivering materials for a number of specific qualifications. I utilized functional skills in all areas of delivery to maximize the impact of strong English, Maths & I.C.T skills in every aspect of learner progression. During delivery I implemented a full range of traditional and technological techniques to maintain retention and get even the most apprehensive of learners to progress and believe in their own ability to achieve. A flexible approach to the role was essential. I was often asked to perform duties that go above and beyond a standard tutor, such as being responsible for the recruitment of learners. As a consequence I further developed my negotiation skills and have established an admirable reputation from a number of referral sources across our local area. I have strong I.A.G skills and have extensive knowledge of services within Liverpool, Warrington, Halton and the greater Merseyside areas.

At Exchange Group training center Runcorn I occupied the Managers position. I was the employability champion and overseen functional skills delivery. It was my responsibility to maintain a number of tracking systems to accurately monitor and track our learner’s progress throughout their learning journey. Because of the high volumes of learners and organisational targets, the need for accuracy and constant updating of data was a daily necessity and a fundamental requirement. Having strong organisational and I.C.T skills enabled me to maintain a prolific approach to keeping records accurate, up to date and easy to understand.

    • Creative Arts / Employability Tutor
      • Aug 2009 - Mar 2011

At Halton Community Academy I was a Creative Arts/ Employability Tutor. This involved a wide variety of creative skills covering a plethora of activities. It was through these activities such as music production and Art & Design that I was able to engage and succeed in getting the most difficult of learners to develop an interest and passion in learning. This contributed to them not just passing their qualification but achieving a merit and in some cases a distinction. In addition to the Creative Arts I also delivered Employability skills at various levels to different age ranges. Having to deliver this subject to learners with learning difficulties and behaviour problems enabled me to develop skills and techniques to motivate and implement a high level of classroom control. During my time at H.C.A I was involved with a number of extra-curricular activities designed to positively engage young people into formal and informal education.
