Founder-Director of a rugby-based non-profit charitable organisation - working in conjunction with the charitable trusts of the rugby unions of Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales and South Africa - to raise money and awareness for seriously injured rugby players, and to raise funds to support house-building in South African townships. In the nine months prior to the 2009 British and Irish Lions rugby tour to South Africa, we wrote to and connected with thousands of schools and rugby clubs across Britain, Ireland and South Africa to promote the plight of seriously injured (paralysed) rugby players and how clubs and schools could help. And as the Lions were touring South Africa, our focus was also on helping to supprt sustainable house-building in South African townships. Show less

Working with schools and clubs across the north-east region of the province to promote the growth of the game of rugby, my role had me liaise with and manage dozens of volunteers and stakeholders. In a region less associated with rugby, I delivered physical and skill development sessions, wrote rugby development pathways for players and coaches, hosted coaching seminars, developed community-wide tag-rugby meetings, worked within the wider Talent Identification Program and overall brought a 400% increase in playing numbers for boys and girls within the region.
