Responsible for the day to day running of Group Finance and the operation of a Biomass Plant, reporting to the Group Finance Director and Operating Partner. Managed a team of 24.• Headhunted into what was a new acquisition for the Group, with the initial brief to get a handle on costs and stabilise the business working alongside a Consultant responsible for day-to-day operations.• Successfully met these challenges taking on the additional responsibility of Operations Manager in September 2014 of a biomass project that generates 14MWe by burning forestry wood and clean wood processing residues in a state-of-the-art combustion plant.• Managed the relationship with 2 partner organisations, the O&M Provider running the plant and the fuel supplier.• Drove an 80% reduction in the cost of the annual outage budget.• Completed the process management of a long-term contract for wood chipping, generating significant savings.

Financial Controller & Company Secretary

It is the world’s leading supplier of steel waste recycling products, providing services to Biffa, Veolia, Local Authorities & to export markets.• Joining as Management Accountant, received a promotion to Financial Controller within 12 months.• Played a key role in setting up and building a £multi-million lease rental business including price modelling, raising funding, sourcing and setting up a bespoke financial accounts system.• A key member of project teams (as leader and team member) including IT systems selection, review of potential company acquisitions and integration of newly acquired businesses into the group.• Led audit and commercial review of several key tenders/contracts with significant values in both UK and overseas markets.• Took a leading role in several cost saving initiatives to improve profitability, including parts outsourcing, contract negotiations, benchmarking suppliers and collection of rebates due.• Cut the month end timetable by two thirds and introduced a review process with budget holders.• Participated in key transactions such as the sale of the business process in 2012, sale and leaseback of land and a sale of receivables working capital facility.

Turnover for the group was £180m and it employed over 600 people. • Responsible for the day-to-day running of the Accounts Department, reporting to the Finance Director.• Joined Dolphin in 1999, subsequently promoted as Management Accountant to Sharps.• Moved and merged the group’s 2 finance departments, closing the Worcester office and creating a combined operation centre in Bilston.• Produced the monthly management accounts package for the board of directors.• Introduced monthly meetings with the directors/department managers to review accounts, highlighting areas requiring more control, agreeing action points and educating them to manage their own budgets. • Produced annual budgets in conjunction with the management team and the year-end statutory accounts, liaising with external auditors and tax consultants• Produced monthly tax returns, quarterly VAT returns and managed quarterly stock takes.• Produced the cash flow report, compiling monthly and annual cash flow forecasts.
