I have known Barbara Faron for over 20+ years and she worked with and for me directly in three separate businesses that we built together. When Barbara joined our then small sales and marketing company (Affinity Partners) in the mid-1990s she helped us develop a following with major credit card issuers interested in expanding their customers via marketing partnerships with Affinity Groups (non-profits and for-profit organizations). Barbara was instrumental in helping establish business partnerships, support internal sales efforts, develop state-of-the-art sales databases and tracking systems, working with our FileMaker Pro consultants on "user-friendly" support for our 45 person sales team (in a "pre-Salesforce.com" era). She served as our PR Person, HR person, Administrative expert, and a key, key liaison with our single most important customer, First USA Bank. When purchased and later merged with JP Morgan Chase, she was instrumental in helping prepare the due diligence material that one must provide in a major M&A transaction. Her sense of "confidentiality" and insight helped me immensely in our negotiations to sell the company. Because of her strategic business importance to me personally, I asked Barbara to help me form a Venture Capital firm called Venture Capital Fund of New England where she particularly helped us administratively deal with our Limited Partners (including the Small Business Administration and its SBIC Program). She served the important role of fielding inquiries from companies interested in attracting our firm as an investor, and in all cases, provided a "face" for the organization that was most professional and effective for us. Barbara was discreet, insightful, inquisitive, and strategic in dealing with the people side of the business in particular. If ever unsure of about a potential entrepreneur, we would turn to Barbara for her inputs and perceptions of the character of the folks we were evaluating. Barbara works equally well in either a small or larger office setting. She was one of our earliest employees at Affinity Partners, helped us manage growth to about 90 employees before selling to our major bank partner. She continued to effectively help us launch our Venture Capital Fund and interface with our 25+ portfolio companies. As we wound down our investment company and moved to a semi-retired status, Barbara continued on to a more growth-oriented environment within the insurance industry. I know that she is admired and extremely well thought of by all that interact with her. I can wholeheartedly recommend Barbara Faron as a trustworthy business person - kind, loving and an extremely effective business professional.
